Lucas Joppa’s research interests are motivated by the goal of facilitating the conservation of ecological systems. This encompasses research ranging from the study of multi-scale impacts of conservation interventions to the complexities of species interactions. His research challenges him to predict outcomes for ecological communities faced with an increasingly uncertain environment, while integrating the inherent social dimensions of this problem. Lucas ties together robust ecological theory with effective environmental conservation, all while innovating distributed data collection systems.
